In my last blog I spoke about transactional leaders vs transformational leaders. Far too many leaders are still stuck in the 20th Century ways of trying to motivate employees from the top. It’s a defunct and obsolete way to get the best out of your people and it simply does NOT work. Even the ‘Carrots-and-sticks’ method has been totally debunked, and yet so many transactional leaders continue to bang on the same old drum, unenlightened to a whole new way of driving organisational success.
There are specific psychological reasons for this: whereas motivation is temporary, inspiration is permanent. This applies as much to individuals as it does to group dynamics.
